Cul-de-Sac, dir. Roman Polanski. A wounded criminal and his dying partner take refuge at a beachfront castle. The owners of the castle, a meek Englishman and his willful French wife, are initially the unwilling hosts to the criminals. Quickly, however, the relationships between the criminal, the wife, and the Englishman begin to shift in humorous and bizarre fashion.
Filmed entirely on the tidal island Lindisfarne and in Lindisfarne Castle. Lindisfarne was a day trip Lisa and I took while in Berwick. Being a tidal island there’s one opportunity to drive on and get off before the tide comes back. We took a taxi there in the morning and thought we’d figure out the getting off part. Luckily hitchhiking off worked out well when a lovely, un-bizarre young couple who ran a cafe on the island picked us up.
