If you don’t know that using infogrpahics to game digg and google was a highly employed technique, then this whole thread will be fascinating to you. (Scout’s honor, we’ve never done this, but have mapped out doing it. Where the whole infographic-strategy got whacky is when sites would make entirely unrelated graphic topics that still linked to their site, such as the history of the candy bad that links to a cash-for-gold site)

We’ve been approached a number of times to publish a infogrpahic that someone would get on digg for us. It been a cottage industry since the beginning of the year.

Also fascinating the read is the raking-over-the-coals the reddit community thinks they are doing. The ‘facts’ they think they are pulling out, when this stuff happens all the time in their community as well. But it’s nice to see earnestness none the less.

Ode to my new kitchenette

I’m about to spend 6 months in a very small one-room space with no real kitchen. I’m embracing it, aesthetically, ascetically. Have purchased a rice cooker(best $30 I’ve ever spent, ever) and a surprisingly modern hot plate. Out of doors nearby will be a grill, in a cupboard, a toaster oven. I may (or not) end up cooking the best meals of my life in this makeshift haunt. But I’ll be trying to live smaller and minimize possessions. The reward, a new life next year in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Our 100% Virgin Wool ‘Cozy Sweater’ is hand-knit in the highlands of central Mexico in a town where herders and their sheep roam cobblestone streets, families weave traditional wool sarapes on centuries old pedal looms handed down through generations and also expertly knit these classic mexican high-neck sweaters. Marilyn Monroe in the 60’s and Starsky & Hutch in the 70’s made these sweaters famous in the United States, but they’ve always been a staple in Mexico.

This is the trailer for a documentary about education in the US called Waiting for Superman. I only watched it because I had to for work and it ended up making me cry. I will see this movie.

If all the “activists” who protest against gay marriage and a community center in a city in which most of them do not even live channeled their energy toward protesting and rehabilitating the state of our education system, our country could actually turn into a decent place. That makes me sad. (I guess I could do something about it too, but I’ve got a lot of Twilight fan fiction to read and True Blood to watch.)
