A long time ago a group of contrarian hillbilly musicians from southern Missouri called Big Smith played music regularly at a place called Chester’s on Dickson in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I recorded the following and many more like it from the soundboard there in April 2002. It’s medley because I couldn’t post the whole show. First song recorded by the Beatles. Second song sang by my dear rather contrarian himself grandfather, gone now longer than I care to count out. But we’d sing it when he took me fishing when I was a little kid and living in the Ozarks in Arkansas. Third is some of that contrarian stuff I mentioned earlier.

These recordings unfortunately don’t describe the pure joy it was drinking and dancing (and remembering my Papaw) there all night.

Anyway, here’s some hillbilly music from the states.
